Many people encouraged me to run again for 2025 but I was truly resistant
to the idea. Politics is not for the feint of heart. It is a blood sport of sneaky,
conniving players both seen and unseen who will do anything to win.
Vultures, blood-sucking leeches and energy vampires come out of the
woodwork to grift off candidates and their campaign coffers. I do not like
having that energy around me or bringing it to my family. Yet, I have made
some really good friends who are like-minded in trying to save our city in an
honest and pure-hearted manner. I had planned to help them with their
endeavors and forget all about my experiences running in 2024.
I have asked quite a few lawyers that I know to run their own campaign for
judge. I offered to help. No one would take me up on it because of the
repercussions faced when going against the machine. It is widely
understood that in order to run for judge on the Democratic line, one must
"pay their dues." The machine doles out these judicial seats to party hacks
and very often there are no Primary challengers. When I became aware of
this year's county picks, there are some lackluster choices, to say the least.
I decided to file my candidacy and give the people of Queens a meaningful
choice.
Last year, there were two of us insurgents running against the county's two
picks. We were able to defeat one and a couple of weeks ago I was honored
to attend the installation of the Honorable Glenda Hernandez, my running
mate. This really encouraged me to continue the fight to return these
judicial seats to We the People. The voters of Queens deserve to have a
voice in who will represent them fairly in the judiciary.
